Pet Optimum chews: jar price and how long it lasts

What one Pet Optimum probiotic jar costs by dog size, how the store labels months of supply, how many chews the feeding chart allows, and when to skip the subscription.

Flat editorial illustration of a dog beside a generic soft-chew jar, a calendar, and a small price tag, with no brand…
Editorial illustration of jar cost and how long a daily chew lasts. It is not a Pet Optimum product photo, packaging, or a product test.

Pet Optimum sells Daily Probiotic soft chews in one jar price across sizes. The jar does not last the same number of months. Small, medium and large options on the US store share a sticker price, then label that jar as a 3-month, 2-month or 1-month supply.

If you are still deciding whether a probiotic chew belongs in the routine at all, start with who Pet Optimum chews fit. This page is the money question: price, how many chews a day, how long a jar is supposed to last, and when skipping it is the cheaper correct choice.

Checked: October 4, 2026. US prices, supply labels, feeding directions and shipping rules can change. Confirm the product page and the jar label before you pay.

The short answer

Buy one jar, once, only after a veterinarian is comfortable with a probiotic chew for this dog. On the day we checked, that jar was $35.99 one-time for every size, or $32.39 on the 1-jar subscribe card (about 10% off). Pet Optimum then calls the same jar a 3-month supply for Small (0–25 lb), a 2-month supply for Medium (26–50 lb) and a 1-month supply for Large (50 lb+).

That is roughly $12, $18 or $36 per labeled month before multi-jar discounts. A large dog does not get a bigger discount. The dog uses the jar faster.

Skip the subscribe button until the dog accepts the chew and you have finished the 4–5 week window Pet Optimum asks for. Skip the product entirely if you only wanted a treat, or if stools are bloody, the dog is vomiting, lethargic or losing weight. A cheaper month is not a reason to delay a vet visit.

What one jar costs

The US product page, when checked, used the same dollar amounts for Small, Medium and Large. Only the "month supply" wording changed.

Size option on the storeWhat 1 jar is labeledOne-time, 1 jarSubscribe, 1 jar
Small, 0–25 lb3 month supply$35.99$32.39 for 3 months (save 10% vs $35.99)
Medium, 26–50 lb2 month supply$35.99$32.39 for 2 months (save 10%)
Large, 50 lb+1 month supply$35.99$32.39 per month (save 10%)

Divide the one-time jar by the labeled months and the ongoing cost is about $12.00, $18.00 or $35.99 per labeled month. The subscribe jar is about $10.80, $16.20 or $32.39 per labeled month. Those are arithmetic on Pet Optimum's own labels, not a promise that a calendar month has 30 days or that your jar will match the card.

Multi-jar cards used the same sale prices for every size. One-time: $62.98 for 2 jars (struck price $69.98, "save 10%") and $89.22 for 3 jars (struck price $104.97, "save 15%"). Subscribe: $61.18 for 2 jars ("save 15%" against a $71.98 compare on the card) and $86.38 for 3 jars ("save 20%" against $107.97). The store then stretches those jar counts into 6 and 9 months for small dogs, 4 and 6 months for medium dogs, and 2 and 3 months for large dogs.

Pet Optimum also advertised free ground shipping inside the continental United States on subscription orders, plus a 30-day easy-return line. One-time shipping was not listed as free on the page we checked. Do not add a shipping number we did not see.

How many chews per day

The product gallery includes a feeding panel. It says a maximum of one chew per 25 lb of body weight, daily, and prints these caps:

Dog on the feeding panelDaily amount shown
Small, 0–25 lb1 soft chew
Medium, 26–50 lb2 soft chews
Large, 51–75 lb3 soft chews
Large, 75 lb+4 soft chews, called the highest maximum

The store's size picker is coarser. It offers Large as 50 lb+ and sells that option as a 1-month jar. The feeding panel splits 51–75 lb (3 chews) from 75 lb+ (4 chews). A dog over 75 lb can still be on the same Large jar as a 55 lb dog. Follow the panel's daily cap, not "one chew because it is a daily product."

We did not find a calorie count or a full guaranteed analysis in the page text. Do not treat these chews as a free snack on top of meals.

How long a jar lasts

Use two published clues, and do not mash them into one fake spec.

  1. Supply cards. Pet Optimum labels 1 jar as 3 months, 2 months or 1 month depending on the size option above.
  2. Jar count. A product image on the same page uses the alt text "90 chew jar." That count is not in the variant name. Read the jar you receive before you budget the last week.

If that 90-chew alt text is the real count, daily use from the feeding panel lasts about:

Daily chewsDays in a 90-chew jarRough one-time cost per day ($35.99 ÷ days)
190 daysabout $0.40
245 daysabout $0.80
330 daysabout $1.20
4about 23 daysabout $1.60

The small-dog card (1 chew, "3 month supply") lines up with 90 days. The large-dog card ("1 month supply") lines up with 3 chews a day, not with 4. The medium card says 2 months, but 2 chews a day from a 90-chew jar is about 45 days, which is shorter than two months. Treat the 45-day figure as arithmetic on the alt text, not as a second label. If the jar count differs, the days change with it.

What a 4–5 week trial actually costs

Pet Optimum says to use the chew consistently for at least 4–5 weeks before judging results. You cannot buy a 4-week pouch. The trial price is however many full jars that window needs.

Daily chewsChews in 4 weeksChews in 5 weeksJars if the count is 90
128351 jar ($35.99 one-time)
256701 jar, with little left if you finish week 5
3841051 jar covers 4 weeks; week 5 spills into a second jar
41121402 jars before the trial window is over

A second jar is not "another $35.99" if you use the 2-jar one-time card ($62.98 when checked). Two separate 1-jar checkouts would be $35.99 twice, or $71.98, which is worse than that card. Neither price includes shipping we could not verify for one-time orders.

Do not open a 3-jar subscribe plan to "save 20%" before you know the dog will eat the chew and that you still want it after the trial. The subscribe discount is real on the card. The waste is also real if the first week fails.

Frequently asked questions

Is the jar cheaper for small dogs?

The sticker price was the same. The labeled month is cheaper because Pet Optimum says the jar lasts longer when the daily amount is lower.

Does Pet Optimum sell a bag, or a jar?

The options we checked were jars: 1, 2 or 3 jars. Marketing still gets called a "bag" in search. Budget the jar, not a pouch size we did not see.

Should I subscribe to get free shipping?

Only if you already plan to reorder. The page tied free ground shipping in the continental US to subscription orders. A first trial is still an easier decision as a one-time jar.

Will BarkOnTrack earn a commission if I buy?

Yes, if you use our shop links. That does not change the price at checkout. See our affiliate disclosure for the current merchant list.

Per-day and per-month figures marked as rough are division of those published prices and labels. They are not a Pet Optimum quote. BarkOnTrack has not counted chews in a jar, tested palatability, or run stool or itch outcomes. For medical decisions, ask a licensed veterinarian.
