Arm & Hammer Swivel Bin vs Claw Scooper: which suits your yard?

Choose between a carrying bin and a one-handed claw by cleanup routine, grip, reach and recurring waste-bag cost.

Choose the Swivel Bin and Rake when you want to collect several deposits and carry them to disposal together. Choose the Claw Scooper when one-handed pickup suits your grip and you already have a disposal destination nearby. A claw picks up waste; it does not replace a carrying bin.

If your current bags and tool handle the job comfortably, keep them. The useful upgrade solves a specific cleanup problem, rather than adding another handle to the shed.

ChoiceListed priceOperation and handling
Swivel Bin and Rake$23.99Rotating collection bin, separate rake, bag hooks and two included waste bags.
Claw Scooper$29.99Spring-loaded squeeze pickup, extending handle up to 27 inches and self-standing storage.

The Swivel Bin's explicit assembled specification lists a 32-inch height, while one graphic says 33 inches. Treat that as a listing discrepancy and confirm the exact working height if reach determines your purchase. The Claw's 13.5-inch Details height is not its maximum working reach.

Match the tool to the cleanup routine

For a yard sweep with several pickups, the Swivel Bin provides somewhere to collect waste while you move. Its rotating bin and rake serve different roles. Plan where you will store and clean both parts. Marketing about completing a task in one trip is not a guaranteed capacity for every yard.

The Claw's one-handed squeeze can be useful when you prefer a single tool. Check whether repeated spring operation suits your grip. You still need a bag or suitable disposal container to receive the waste after each pickup. A shorter tool may also change your stance.

Neither tool guarantees that every person can work without bending. Reach, grip, ground level and personal comfort vary. If possible, check the handle and return policy before committing to a model.

Grass, gravel and hard surfaces

Petmate lists the Claw for grass, gravel and concrete. That is a statement of intended use, not our tested comparison. Surface texture and waste consistency change the task. On gravel, take care not to gather loose stones unnecessarily. On grass, check the pickup area rather than assuming one motion removed everything.

The bin-and-rake arrangement gives you a separate collecting space, but does not eliminate cleanup of the tool itself. Keep yard equipment away from food-preparation areas and follow the manufacturer's cleaning directions.

Include bags in the real cost

Petmate's Swivel Bin refill bags list $9.99 for 20, approximately $0.50 per bag before tax and delivery. They are listed as 12 × 18.5 inches, scented, with tie handles and baking soda. Two bags come with the tool.

Do not assume a small walking bag fits the bin's hooks or dimensions. Equally, the product imagery shows the bin used with and without a bag, so branded refills should not be described as mandatory. Follow local waste-disposal rules and the tool's instructions for your chosen setup.

The listing does not establish that these bags are compostable or biodegradable. Scent and baking soda are not environmental certifications.

Which is better for several dogs?

The bin is worth considering if carrying collected waste is the main problem. We have not measured its useful capacity or pickup speed, so do not buy on a promised number of dogs or deposits.

Is the claw easier on my hands?

It uses a spring-loaded squeeze. Whether that feels easier depends on your grip and routine; we have not performed an ergonomic assessment.
